Stuffed with counterfeits: Why Turkey has become the new ‘fake’ focus

-

Counterfeits in Turkey are a booming problem, with fake goods flooding the market across industries—from luxury fashion to electronics to fast moving consumer goods. These counterfeit products undermine the economy, hurt genuine brands, and expose consumers to serious risks, from poor quality to safety hazards. Despite strict laws, counterfeit manufacturers continue to thrive, often using sophisticated methods to disseminate the fakes all over the world. The lure of lower prices makes it tempting, but buyers risk more than just wasted money—they put their health, safety, and legal standing on the line. Tackling this issue requires stronger enforcement, data-exchange, joint industry action and a unified effort to protect both businesses and buyers from the growing counterfeit threat.
